Rochester’s cold. Rochester’s dreary. Rochester’s got nothing but snow, snow, snow.
If it’s so cold in Greater ROC, why are we at outdoor concerts every night of the week?
If everything’s so dreary, why is our art scene so vibrant?
If we’re covered in snow, why do we kayak on the canal?
We know Greater ROC doesn’t hibernate—and summer doesn’t politely arrive. It takes over.
We’re a four-season region. And when the summertime sun hits, we flex.
First we change the pace. Bursting with energy, we bolt outside—patios packed, neighborhoods in motion, grooving to a rhythm entirely our own.
You can feel it everywhere. The workday ends, but nobody’s calling it a night. The next band takes the stage, a table opens up, another reason to text the group chat and say “Meet you there.” Tuesday gives a Friday vibe. Dinner turns into a walk, a walk turns into dessert, one more song turns into four.
Where are we going? A question like that can take you in any direction. To where restaurants spill out onto the sidewalks of Park Ave. To a hidden bench along Keuka Lake. To a quiet bookstore within walking distance from you. To the bustling fanfare of the Public Market. To free concerts popping up all over. To your neighborhood playground. To High Falls, to Cobbs Hill, to sunken gardens, to block parties.
It’s all happening whether the outsiders notice or not.
Or maybe they don’t want to. They think they know our story. But how could they? We’re still writing it.
This is a place that invents, reinvents, builds, makes, moves and keeps going. Summer just puts more of it out in the open. Every bicycle flying by, every trail disappearing into the woods, every drop of Finger Lakes wine makes it clear: We’ve got range.
That’s the energy behind our summer video. Spring showed Greater ROC in bloom. Summer shows what happens when we’re fully in motion.

Find a waterfront you’ve never seen before. Go to the concert you keep saying you’ll check out. Take someone to the place that makes you think, Yeah, this is why I live here.
